Ready for some disc golf?  The Oxbow Disc Golf Course in Windsor, Colorado is open for business!   Though still a work in progress, the baskets and tees are in, and the course is playable.  The raw land that the course was developed from borders an oxbow of the Poudre River,  just southwest of the skate park in Eastman Park in southwest Windsor.

MAP TO COURSE

From the intersection of Eastman Park & 7th St., continue west (Rt.17 south) on Eastman until it curves to the south and dead ends.  The 1st tee will be to your immediate right.

Alternative entrance/parking:  keep going south on 7th past Eastman and turn Right on Laku Lake Rd (Rt. 17 north) until it dead ends at open field.  Park there and walk across the bridge to the 1st tee  (MAP).

 What is disc golf?

Golf discs are like frisbees, only specially designed for driving or putting.  The game is usually played on a 9 or 18 “hole” course, just like regular golf.  The differences are that it doesn’t drive you crazy, its free, and instead of clubbing little balls into holes, there are basket-goals to catch the flying discs.

The beauty of the sport is that it’s a great way for not only grown adults to spend a few hours in the sun, but also for families and kids to have some quality time.  The investment in the game is probably less than $25 for a few discs, and that’s it!  But the other advantage for Windsor is that the course will attract players from other cities.  Serious disc golfers have shown that they’re willing to drive to a quality course, as there really aren’t enough good ones along the Front Range.  “Build It and They Will Come,” not only spending their money locally for gas and food, but also discovering the appeal of Windsor as a great place to live.

Oxbow has been developed by volunteer effort and the donations of sponsors and other interested individuals on Town land.  But ongoing work needs to be done.  Donations to the Disc Golf project can be made by cash, check, or by credit or debit card on this website using PayPal.  For complete information on where and how to send a cash or check donation, Contact Us.
